DVFC runs all classes at its West Conshohocken location.
Registering, Paying for, and Starting Classes:
New students can join classes in the first week of each month, when we go over basic information and introductory footwork. If your child has previous fencing experience, contact DVFC to figure out their level.
Returning students may join classes at any point in the month.
Students should wear comfortable athletic clothing and sneakers and may want to bring a water bottle. All further equipment is provided by DVFC.
Not quite sure yet? Try your first class for free! Register online (here) to reserve your space, but pay after your first class, once you've had a change to try it out.
Methods of Payment: You can pay online via our web store with credit/debit cards by making one time payments or signing up for recurring payments. We accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover online. Online payments can be made at dvfencers.com/payonline.html.
Payment Expiration: Classes, lessons, etc. must be used within 3 months of the date of payment or the credit will be forfeited.
Discounts: Only one (1) discount can be applied to a person. Discounts are only offered on unlimited class packages. There is no discount stacking. Package deals and contracts will not be discounted further.
DVFC sends invoices, updates, confirmations and news to our families via email. We do not share your email address with others or send solicitations other than official DVFC business and news.
DVFC will be closed:
- Friday through Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend
- July 4th
- Friday through Sunday of Labor Day Weekend
- Several Saturdays through the summer to run coaching clinics. Dates will be determined during the spring.
- Thursday through Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend
If your class meets on one of these days it is YOUR responsibility to schedule a make-up class, tuition will not be prorated.
Inclement Weather: DVFC hold classes unless the weather is particularly fearsome. In general, if nearby public schools close or have an early dismissal due to the weather, then DVFC will be closed. (In some rare instances, like when a media panic the night before shuts down schools for what proves to be a minor storm, we may send out notice that we will be holding class after all, which will probably be a big relief if you’ve been cooped up with an energetic youngster or two all day!) There are no additional makeup sessions for classes missed due to the weather and memberships do not get extended.
How will you find out if classes are cancelled? Since we usually don’t have much time to get the word out, we’ll rely on the quickest methods to send out information – email newsletters, a mass text message, and a status update on our Facebook page. As we head into winter, please make sure that we have good contact information for you! We don’t want you driving on treacherous roads just because our email went to a spam folder!
Missed Classes and Make-up Classes:
DVFC students can attend as many classes in a month as their schedule permits. If you can’t make class at your usual time, come to a different section of your class! On a case-by-case basis, we may allow students to do make-up classes in another class (older youth in teen classes, younger teens in youth classes, advanced in intermediate classes, etc.). If you miss a class, you will be allowed to make it up in any other comparable class before the end of the month. No credits will be given for classes you do not make-up during the current session. If you don't make up a missed class before the end of the session, you forfeit the classes. If you miss the last class in a session, you will not be allowed to make it up, so think ahead!
Your child’s enrollment at DVFC is an investment in his or her future, however, we understand that certain circumstances, including medical problems or moving, may prevent members from continuing with the program. In this case, you will be entitled to a credit for any future membeships. Once a withdrawal form has been completed, we will apply your unused tuition, less a cancellation fee of $25, toward any future memberships.
DVFC reserves the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason we want. DVFC reserves the right to cancel anyone’s membership at any time for any reason.
Refunds will be processed by the final week of each month.
Recurring payments must be cancelled by ten (10) days before the new month to avoid being charged.
Private Lessons Cancellations:
Private lessons that are cancelled by the student with less than 24 hours notice will be charged as a lesson. Private lessons that are cancelled by the coach will be refunded.
All returns must be made within 15 days of delivery. Please check your merchandise as soon as you receive it to ensure that everything has arrived as ordered and is functioning properly. Failure to promptly check your equipment and uniforms will not result in an extension beyond 15 days. No exceptions.
All returns must be unused, in the same condition in which they were delivered. Any stains, scratches, or other marks may result in either refusal of exchange or a restocking fee. No exceptions.
Please note: There is no guarantee on the lifespan of blades due to the competitive nature of this sport and variances in the way each person fences.
